Pongwe

Pongwe beach hotel is located in the Zanzibar Islands of East Africa. The Islands are one of the cleanest in the world and offer a spectacular array of activities and beach holidays.

Accommodation:

In addition to the single supplements and the double rooms, Pongwe beach hotel does facilitate for family rooms.

Family room options:

All rooms are equipped with double beds. Where twin rooms are required an additional bed is put in. A maximum of 2 additional beds can be put, this applies to the larger rooms only.

0 - 3-year-old children go free. Over 7 years old children in own rooms pay the full price.

The hotel accommodates children of all ages however no child minding or baby-sitting services are provided.

Honeymoon:

All honeymoon packages are undertaken in the Beach front rooms. (Other options could be facilitated on enquiry such as the garden view rooms)

Other Information

A Taxi transfer to the hotel is needed. This taxi carries up to 6 persons for a fee of $40 either way.

Personal use car hire (Jeep) is available at $50 per day excluding petrol (An international driving licence is needed. One could also apply for a Tanzanian driving permit locally provided one has a valid driving licence from their country of origin. This costs $10 and requires a days notice to process.

FUNDU LAGOON

Beach side rooms are available on request at an additional fee.

Bookings are undertaken on the ocean view rooms as standard.

Honeymoons are undertaken in the beach side rooms.

Fundu lagoon is located on Pemba Island, in a beautiful and romatic section of the south western side of the Island which is accessible by boat.

Meals:

Breakfast , lunch and dinner is served at the main dinning area or at the jetty bar.

Meals are normally a 3 course cuisine made to international standards. Meals can be served at the beach as well.

The bar has 3 bars that serve a variety of drinks.

Scuba Diver

Requires 2 days (student should be in the hotel 3-4 days)
During that time the student must read 3 chapters of the PADI "Open Water" manual - this is done on the student's own time, e.g. while lying on the beach
Training consists of 3 videos, 3 pool lessons and 2 open water dives
Over the 2 days there is approximately 3 hours theory, 3 hours pool training and the 2 open water dives. Each open water dive lasts approximately 40 minutes
Certificate to dive to 12m with an instructor
Possible to upgrade to Open Water Diver within one year

Open Water Diver

Requires 3-5 days (student should be in the hotel 6-7 days)
See "Scuba Diver" plus the last two chapters of the "Open Water" manual
2 more videos, 2 more pool lessons and 2 more open water dives
Over the 3-5 days there is approximately 5 hours theory, 5 hours pool training and 4 open water dives
International lifetime certificate. Upgrade to Advanced Open Water Diver anytime

Advanced Open Water Diver

Requires 5 dives (student should be in the hotel for at least 3 days)
Complete knowledge reviews for each relevant chapter in the PADI “Adventures in Diving” Manual
The 5 dives include Deep and Navigation dives, plus choose from others including Night, Naturalist, Boat and Drift dives, plus many more

Big Game Fishing

Ras Nungwi has professional deep sea fishing boats on offer. Haraka, Timimi and Suli Suli are some of the boats all equipped to the highest international safety standards. They also have the latest fishing technology with GPS navigational aids, echo sounders and fish finders. Half and full day charters are available on all the boats and if you would like to do a longer trip then three or five day charters to Pemba, Mafia Island and Latham Island can also be arranged on Haraka, which is fully set up for up to five people, With large schools of barracuda, wahoo, king fish, sailfish blue marlin, striped marlin, dorado, broadbill and giant travelli in the area all year and seasonal visits from many other species the fishing off Zanzibar is an experience you will never forget.

The hotel's Peponi Spa offers an array of rejuvenating, pampering and holistic treatments to calm the mind, body and soul. Built with the use of natural materials and designed using only warm tones and simple lines, it provides a calming atmosphere in which to completely relax. Restful music and the subtle aroma of essential oils also add to our spa experience. Qualified professionals conduct all treatments.
